Scam pattern

Invoice Scam

Learn how invoice scams use fake payment requests, supplier impersonation, and bank-detail changes to pressure users into paying the wrong account.

What it looks like

A supplier appears to send an invoice with new bank details, a new portal, or an urgent deadline.

What to avoid

Do not pay from an unexpected email alone, and do not use phone numbers or links from the suspicious message to verify the change.

What to do next

Verify using a known supplier contact and compare against trusted supplier records in Trust Vault.

Red flags

  • New payment details or changed bank account
  • Urgency around end-of-day payment
  • Sender address or domain does not match trusted records
  • Request asks you to bypass normal approval
